The Ursuline Cultural Heritage Trust to ensure the Monastery’s survival
In December 2021, the Sisters established the Ursuline Cultural Heritage Trust to secure the future of the Monastery of the Ursulines of Québec and to preserve their cultural, artistic, archival, spiritual, and educational legacy for generations to come.
The Trust is a social utility non-profit corporation. It will gradually receive, on behalf of the society of Québec, the heritage legacy built by the Ursuline Sisters since their arrival in New France. This legacy includes the buildings comprising the Ursuline Monastery and the community’s archives and collections, as well as its intangible heritage.

Mission
The Trust’s mission is to steward the cultural heritage of the Ursuline Sisters of the Canadian Union to ensure its long-term conservation and transmission, and to make it accessible to the public.
The Trust’s ultimate goal is to keep alive, for current and future generations, the invaluable legacy of one of Quebec’s founding communities.
The challenge it has undertaken is manifold: ensuring access to the site for the public, showcasing the significance of the Ursuline legacy while making its exceptional value tangible, cultivating a relationship with the community, and drawing inspiration from the history and spirituality of the Ursulines to give meaning to the present.
